Tania Nicol & Gemma Adams
Suffolk Police were first alerted that Tania Nicol, aged 19, was missing
on Wednesday, 1 November 2006. Her mother contacted police to say she
had not seen Tania for more than 48 hours.
Tania was last seen at about 10:30pm on Monday, 30 October 2006, when
she left her home in Woolverstone Close, Ipswich, to work in the town
centre as a prostitute. On Friday, 8 December, a police diving team
searching two miles further down the waterway, near Copdock Mill, discovered
the naked body of Tania. The post mortem proved inconclusive and further
tests are being carried out to try and establish a cause of death. Tania
had not been sexually assaulted. As a result of the discovery of Tania's
body, Suffolk Police launched a murder enquiry into her death.
In the early hours of Wednesday, 15 November, police received a call from
the partner of 25-year-old Gemma Adams, who was concerned for her welfare
after she had failed to come home. Gemma, from Blenheim Road, was also
known to work in Ipswich as a prostitute. At 11.50am on Saturday, 2 December,
the naked body of Gemma Adams was discovered by a member of the public
in a brook at Thorpes Hill, Hintlesham. A post mortem by a Home Office
Pathologist did not reveal a clear cause of death and further tests have
been carried out to ascertain the cause of death. However, the post mortem
did reveal Gemma had not been sexually assaulted. As a result of the discovery
of Gemma’s body, Suffolk Police launched a murder enquiry into her
death.
Bodies Found - Levington 12 Dec 2006
Police can confirm that this afternoon (Tuesday, December 12), two bodies
have been found, near Ipswich. At 3:05pm police received a call from
a member of the public who was walking along Old Felixstowe Road, near
the Levington turn off. He saw what appeared to be the naked body of
a female, about 20 ft off the road. Police immediately attended and
have closed the road and set up a cordon. As part of our initial response,
the helicopter was sent up to film the scene.About 40 minutes later,
at 3.48pm, a crew member on board the helicopter spotted what appeared
to be a second body, a few hundred yards away from the site of the first
body.
Detective Chief Superintendent Stewart Gull, Head of Suffolk Constabulary’s
Crime Management Department, said: “As you will understand, we
don’t have a great deal of information. But, because of the discovery
of two further bodies – close to where the body of Anneli Alderton
was found – we can only fear the worst. “The natural assumption
is that these are the bodies of the two missing women, Annette Nicholls,
aged 29, and Paula Clennell, aged 24. “But until we have carried
out inquiries to establish identification, this of course cannot be
confirmed. “My appeal at this stage is for anyone with any information
to come forward immediately.”
